Police officers from the Garki Police Division, Federal Capital Territory, FCT Command, on Monday arrested two security guards, Ibrahim Nuhu and Emeka Moses, for stealing 2,500 pieces of Startimes recharge cards valued at N1.5m.
The duo reportedly stole the items from the Startimes warehouse in Abuja where they were posted to for guard duty.
According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Anjuguri Manzah, the private security guards, 37-year-old and 27-year-old respectively, were arrested after their attempts to sell the cards failed.

Speaking with The Punch, the PPRO said, “Acting on a report and following a discreet investigation, police operatives attached to the Garki division have recovered 2,500 pieces of Startimes N600 recharge cards valued at N1.5m, stolen by Nuhu and Moses, who were private security guards.”
Manzah said they stole the items from the organisation’s warehouse where they were posted to and were arrested after their attempt to sell the recharge cards failed and the police division was immediately alerted.

In a related development, the PPRO said the FCT police had also arrested a gang which broke into a house in Garki and stole a water dispenser.
Manzah said, “Those arrested include Kuji Manasa, 29; Danjuma Shehu, 32; Ifeanyichukwu Denis, 29; Sadiq Buba, 21 and Muktari Abubakar, 26.

The PPRO further noted that the suspects will be charged to court on conclusion of investigation, adding that, “the gang leader, Manasa, made useful statements that led to the arrest of his gang members of the syndicate who have all confessed to the crime, as well as their participation in other crimes like handbag snatching, theft, and the sale and consumption of hard drugs.”
