The 48-year-old businesswoman who caused a stir at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Friday, February 12, 2016 after she vomited 15 wraps of cocaine has been convicted.
Mrs Saidat Bola Hassan, a mother of three, was nabbed by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) operatives who took her in after the mild drama ensued at the central screening section of the departure hall as passengers on an Egypt Airline flight to Jedda, Saudi Arabia, via Cairo were screened.
During further checks, the operatives discovered that she ingested 80 wraps of cocaine, which weighed almost one kilogram as she excreted another 65 wraps.
Mrs. Hassan, who claims to sell women clothes at the popular Balogun market in Lagos, has now been convicted. This is according to NDLEA spokesperson, Mr Mitchel Ofoyeju who made the
disclosure in a chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly.
His words, “She was charged for unlawful exportation at the Federal High Court, Abuja and was convicted.”
He went to add, “She was sentenced to two years imprisonment and she’s serving her jail term at Kuje Prisons.” On the progress made in tracking and arresting her Cote D’Ivoire-based accomplice, he concluded: “Nothing yet on that”.
